Happy Faith…

So I grew up not really knowing much about living/active/breathing faith… I knew what faith was and how to talk about it- but really praying in faith— believing in faith… walking in faith…

13 Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. -John14:13/14

I read these verses…

never really being introduced to the idea that asking God for something or to do something would really require searching His Word to see what He really already feels about the subject. I had to dig.

We’ve heard Psalm 37:4 before: ‘Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.’ ….

As I continue to sit in the Word in this season of waiting, I came back to this verse today; but this time I found it in the God’s Word Translation: ‘Be happy with the Lord, and He will give you the desires of Your heart.’ Psalm 37:4

Funny thing… I couldn’t get past the first section: “Be happy with the Lord…”

I sat back and thought- am I happy with the Lord… I mean, really happy? Am I truly seeking His rich Word every day and finding contentment in what He says He thinks about me and my current state?

’14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.”

Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works.‘ James 2:14-16

Reality check- sometimes our ‘works’ to really see and know where God is taking us… is the wait.

While we most certainly act on our faith by loving others as we see in this passage from James; as Believers, we can’t discount the fact that there’s just as much ‘action’ in ‘waiting’ as there is anything else.

So for those of you who are in this season of ‘waiting’, don’t be discouraged- be happy. Find your happiness (def: state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy) in the Word, in the Lord.

Our happiness in waiting for God’s truth will result in the planting of seeds and the Kingdom edified… God at work… through happy faith.
